Joseph Philip Vieira Remedios,
I am a son of Mr. P.A.V. Remedios.
I am 16 years of
age. I remember going to the Post Office on Sunday
11th October. My father sent me to go and see Mr.
Martin with the keys. He told me to take the keys to
Mr. Martin and ask him to take a 85 note from the top
of the drawer in the safe, He did not tell me anything
else.
The servant, named Ah Ming went with me in order
that no one might take the keys from my hand. I want
in from the Praya and at one of the doors of the Post
Office leading into the lane I met a postman. I do not
know his number. I asked him if Mr. Martin was in. Не
want inside and looked and came out again and asked me
what I wanted with Mr. Martin, I told him I wanted
to take some money from the safe and also told him that
I was Mr. Remedios' Hon. He went a second time inside
in order to see if Mr. Martin was in the office, When
he came back he said that he could not find Mr. Martin
and I was on the point of going home when he asked me in
English whether I had anything important to say to Mr.
Kartin. I told him I wanted to take 85. from the safe
and asked him if I could go in or not, He said I could
go in and so I called my servant, who was at the steps
and we three, I the postman and my servant, went to the
padlock of the iron door. The poetsan accompanied me
to the safe and I opened the safe with the keys and took
out a 25. note from the top of the drawer as my father
had directed me to tell Mr. Martin, if he was inside the
Post Office. When I had taken the g5 note from the
safe and was just closing the safe, Mr. Martin came in
and took the keys from my hands. He then told me to go
home and say to my father that he will tomorrow give back
